Its main port is Tzanjuyú, numerous hotels available within the village, restaurants, recreation areas that are used by tourists from all over the world, Lake Atitlan nominated for being the seventh wonder of the world. In its contemporary history in the 60's , it is known that the small town attracted international tourists. Many came from the liberal hippie movement of this time, some of these visitors decided to settle in the town of Panajachel. Nowadays the town has returned to flourish and forms one of the main tourist centers of the country.
